Standards of Sociology

As part of the Academy’s commitment to excellence, in Spring 2026, to mark the 25th anniversary of the Academy, Fellows Ozan Aksoy, Gianluca Manzo, Gunn Elizabeth Birkelund and Werner Raub published a position statement in Rationality and Society, setting out an agenda for maintaining and enhancing disciplinary standards.

As noted by the Editor of Rationality and Society, Andreas Flache, in his introduction to the Forum section in which the piece appeared, the position paper was intended to stimulate debate and comment from colleagues as well as to outline an agenda for excellence.

It is already doing so as comments have already been received and will be published in the Forum section of Rationality and Society,  with responses to follow.
