Peter Hedström

Peter Hedström received his PhD at Harvard University in 1987. He then took a post as assistant professor at the University of Chicago. From 1989 to 2003 he was Professor of Sociology at Stockholm University, and from 2003 to 2011 he was Official Fellow of Nuffield College, University of Oxford. During the 2008/2009 academic year he was Dean of the School of Social Sciences, Singapore Management University, and he was a Distinguished Global Visiting Professor, NYU, Abu Dhabi, 2010–2014. From 2011 to 2014, he was the Director of the Institute for Futures Study in Stockholm. Since 2014, he is Professor of Analytical Sociology at Linköping University, and he was Director of the Institute for Analytical Sociology during the years 2014-2021. He has been editor of Acta Sociologica and associate editor of American Journal of Sociology, Annual Review of Sociology, Journal of Computational Social Science, and Rationality and Society, and he is an important contributor to the literature on analytical sociology.
