Lucinda Platt is Professor of Social Policy and Sociology in the Social Policy Department at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Lucinda's research focuses on the topics of ethnicity, migration, disability, child poverty and inequalities. Much of her work involves the analysis of large-scale longitudinal data sets, which she has also had experience of developing. Since 2007 she has been co-investigator on Understanding Society the UK Household Longitudinal study; and from 2011-2013 she was Director of the Millennium Cohort Study. She has held visiting positions at DIW Berlin, the Melbourne Institute, the IAE Barcelona, Carlos III Madrid, and the European University Institute Florence; and she has honorary affiliations to UCL, the University of Essex and the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS). She has led or been co-investigator on a number of large grants, including two projects under the Norface Migration Programme (2010-2013) and an ESRC-funded study of ethnic inequalities in the UK (2023-2027). She was a Panel Member for the IFS Deaton Review of Inequality (2018-2025).Â
